MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS(SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY)

(a) to (c): As per information provided by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), no separate data on transgenders are being collected at present.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment constituted an Expert Committee to make an in-depth study of the problems being faced by the Transgender Community and suggest suitable measures to ameliorate their problems. The Committee has submitted its report on 27th January 2014.

There are no specific steps taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs for providing security to transgenders. However, as citizens of this country they enjoy constitutional rights, as extended to the citizen of India.
