Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state::-

(a) the number of applications received by the Government under the Production Linked Incentives (PLI), Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS) and Modified Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) 2.0 schemes respectively along with the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has given any approval to any of these received applications and if so, the separate details thereof and the amount disbursed thereunder; Scheme-wise; and
(c) the amount of investment expected to be brought in and employment expected to be generated because of these incentives in the electronics sector?


ANSWER
(a): Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing, notified on 01.04.2020, was open to receive applications till 31.07.2020. Under the PLI Scheme, a total of22 applications have been received till 31.07.2020.List of applicants is at Annexure-1.

Under Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS), 13 applications have been received so far. List of applicants is atAnnexure-2.

Under Modified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC 2.0) Scheme, so far, one (01) application has been received from M/s. Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), an undertaking of Government of Haryana.

(b): Under the aforesaid Schemes, approval has not been accorded to any application, so far.

(c): Under the PLI Scheme, cumulative investment of approximately INR 11,000 crore is projected over 5 years. The Scheme is expected to generate around 2,00,000 employment opportunities in the next 5 years.

Under the SPECS Scheme, new investments to the tune of INR 20,000 crore are expected over 8 years.The Scheme is expected to generate around 1,50,000 employment opportunities.
