(b): Since, public health is a State subject, the details of staff strength, including doctors and the present position in each of the traditional systems of medicine, State/UT-wise, hospital-wise, stream-wise is not maintained by the Central Government.
(c): The Ministry is supplementing the efforts of the State Governments including Andhra Pradesh to promote AYUSH system through Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), which inter-alia envisages better access to AYUSH services, strengthening of AYUSH educational institutions, facilitate the enforcement of quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU & H) drugs and sustainable availability of ASU & H raw-materials by promoting medicinal plants in the States/UTs.
(d) & (e): As public health is a State subject, setting up of 50 bedded AYUSH Hospitals in Andhra Pradesh comes under the purview of respective State Government. However, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) there is a provision for financial assistance for setting up of upto 50-bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital. Under NAM, two integrated AYUSH Hospitals upto 50 bedded have already been approved in the State of Andhra Pradesh at Kakinada & Visakhapatnam as per the proposal received from them through State Annual Action Plan. Further, Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 792.31 lakhs and Rs. 331.37 lakhs for these two hospitals.
