EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-


(a) the details of number of persons brought to India under the Vande Bharat Mission in its various phases along with details, country-wise;

(b) the manner in which these passengers were screened and quarantined;

(c) the total number of neighboring countries that sought the help of India for purchase of COVID-19 vaccines from India, country-wise and quantity of vaccines sought by them;

(d) whether some of these countries are likely to be provided these vaccines as gift; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?


ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

(a) As per the information available with Ministry of External Affairs, as on 20 January 2021, around 39 lakh people have returned to India under 9 phases of the Vande Bharat Mission. Since most Indian nationals stranded in foreign countries have safely returned to their homes, the incoming passengers are now being treated as ‘International Arrivals’. A country-wise list is attached at Annexure A.

(b) Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Home Affairs have been issuing revised guidelines on screening and quarantine from time to time. Based on these guidelines, State Governments have been issuing their own SOPs for arriving passengers for the purpose of screening, testing and quarantine.

(c) to (e) As on 22 January 2021, India has provided Covid-19 vaccines in form of grant-in-aid to following countries:
