HEALTHCARE SERVICES FOR TRANSGENDER INDIVIDUALS

Will the Minister of



HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:-




(a) whether the Government has taken note of stigma and discrimination being faced by the transgender individuals while accessing healthcare services in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to address the issue;

(c) whether the doctors and other medical personnel receive any specialised training to deal with the medical cases of the transgender individuals with increased sensitivity in the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?


ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI JAGAT PRAKASH NADDA)

(a) & (b): No. The healthcare services are provided to all patients without any discrimination on any ground.

(c) & (d): Doctors are aware of special health issues related to transgenders as part of their medical education and training.
