(a) whether the Government has received repeated requests from the Odia community and various representatives regarding the need to give classical status to Odishi music (vocal and instrumental) classical status, so that it may popularize music and bring joy to music lovers across the country;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a & b) Sangeet Natak Akademi, an autonomous organization working under M/o Culture, Government of India, has received proposals from the following in this regard:
1. Guru Gopal Chandra Panda, Founder President/ Chairman, Guru Gopal Panda Odishi Academy, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. 2. Prof. P.K. Mishra, Chairman, Institute of Indian Music, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
3. Dr. Amar Patnaik, Member, Rajya Sabha
(c & d) The Government does not confer classical status to any Musical form.
