Setting up of Central Research Institutions

AYURVEDA,YOGA & NATUROPATHY,UNANI,SIDDHA AND HOMEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government has established Central Research Institutions (CRIs) in each State/UT;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;

(c) the details of the funds provided by the Government for establishment of CRI in such States/ UTs along with its utilization thereof; and

(d) the other steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to promote Private Research Institutes?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA
STARRED QUESTION NO.300* FOR 5TH AUGUST, 2022

(a) & (b) The Ministry of Ayush has established Central Research Institutes, functioning under the purview of all five Research Councils – Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS); Central Council for Research in Sidha (CCRS); Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM); Central Council of Research in Homeopathy (CCRH); and Central Council of Research in Yoga &Naturopathy (CCRYN). In addition to the Central Research Institutes, each Research Council also has Regional Research Institutes and Clinical Research Institutes/Units under its purview. The details of all Central Research Institutes, Regional Research Institutes, Clinical Research Institutes/Units under each of the above mentioned Research Councils are given in Annexure.
(c) Details of funds provided by the Government for setting up of Central Research Institutes, Council wise, are as under:
CCRS: The amount of Rs. 58.57 Crores has been provided by the Government since 2017-18, and the full amount has been utilised.
CCRUM: Earlier, CRIUM Lucknow being housed in rented accommodation was later shifted to its own building in 2014 an amount of Rs. 18.72 Crorewas incurred. Thus the whole amount provided by the Government was fully utilised.
CCRH : Total funds provided by the Government for setting up of its four CRIs has been to the tune of Rs.107.54 crores, whereas the funds utilised so far utilized have been to the tune of Rs.72.90 crores, and remaining funds are under process of utilization.
CCRYN: Total funds provided by the Government for its three CRIs is Rs.121.24 crores, and the full amount has been utilised.
CCRAS: Total funds provided by the Government for its nine CRIs is Rs.70.9082 crores, and the funds utilised so far have been to the tune of Rs.27.4252 crores.

(d) Several schemes of the Ministry of Ayush, like Extra Mural Research projects (EMR) (Ayush Oushadhi Gunvatta Evum Uttapadan Sanvardhan Yojna (AOGUSY Scheme), Champion Services Sector Scheme, AYURSWASTHYA YOJANA, are under implementation to promote Private Research Institutes. International/National Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Training Programmes are also organized to adopt the latest medical advancements in research methodologies.
