(a) whether the Government proposes to introduce Khadi dress code for the
students of all the Kendriya Vidyalayas of the country to promote Khadi and
Village Industry;
(b) if so, the quantum of beneficial impacts likely to have on Khadi and Village
Industry and the impact likely to have on students’ approach towards Khadi;
and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) There is no proposal under consideration at present to introduce Khadi
dress code for the students of all the Kendriya Vidyalayas of the country. The
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently issued a circular
proposing that affiliated schools across the country may observe ‘Khadi Wearing
Day’, on a voluntary basis, once in a week/fortnight/month.
