STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 152 BY ADV. M. UDHAYAKUMAR TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 13.02.2019 REGARDING DIGITAL HUBS
(a) & (b): RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RCIL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under Ministry of Railways, is providing free Wi-Fi services at Railways Stations. Wi-Fi Services have been provided at 755 stations as on 31st January 2019 as indicated in the Appendix.
An average of about 2.9 Crores users are using this free Wi-Fi services during a month and the total aggregate data consumed per month has been more than 10,000 Terabytes (TB).
(c) & (d): RCIL is in the process of providing free Wi-Fi services at additional 796 Railway stations across the country.
