UIKEY, SHRI M. G., (Cong.) Madhya Pradesh-Mandla - (Res. Sch. Tribes)—1971, Son of Shri Ganu Uikey; b. at Vill. Wadhona, Distt. Chanda, M.P., November 5, 1901; ed. at Wadhona and Bramhpuri; m. Smt. Janakibai, 1914; 4 s. and 3 d; Social worker; served in the B. N. Railway from 1918-43; Secretary, Akhil Gondwana Gond Mahasabha for ten years from 1934; Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Gond Mahasabha, 1934-50; founded an Orphanage and several primary schools in Mandla and Chhindwara, 1944; worked for economic uplift of Adimjati in Balaghat district in 1946 and started several primary schools and banks; organised six sessions of Akhil Bhartiya Gond Mahasabha and Vanjati Anandotsava at Nainpur in 1950; Member, (i) Madhya Pradesh Tribal Advisory Council since 1950, (ii) All India Tribal Advisory Board and Scholarship Board, 1956-60, (iii) Adivasi Vikas Niti Nirdharan Ayog, M.P.
