Government College, Chittur and University College, Trivandrum; Unmarried; Political Worker; took part in Goa Liberation movement and participated in the All-India Mass Satyagraha organised in 1956 by the Goa Liberation Samithi at Belgaum borders; arrested, (i) in 1965 in Trivandrum while participating in a demonstration of "Solidarity with the heroic people of Vietnam", (ii) in 1965 in connection with Kerala Bundh organised as part of the food movement, (iii) in 1966 in Delhi in connection with the U.P. Students' agitation, (iv) in 1968 again in Delhi, and in the beginning of 1969 at Calcutta for participating in the movement against the dismissal of the United Front Ministry of West Bengal, (v) in May 1969 in Delhi while staging demonstration before the Parliament against unemployment and for democratic rights for youth and students; Member, (i) State Council, Communist Party of India, Kerala, 1962—67; (ii) State Council Executive, Communist Party of India, Kerala, 1964—69; and (iii) National Council and Central Executive Committee, Communist Party of India, since 1971; Secretary, Students Union, Government College, Chittur, Kerala, 1957-58, General-Secretary, Kerala Students' Federation 1957—62; Vice-president and Acting President, All India Students Federation, 1959—65; General-Secretary, (i) Kerala Youth Federation, 1964-65; (ii) All India Youth Federation, 1965—74; President, All India, Youth Federation since 1974: Member, (i) Coir Board, 1971—75; (ii) All India Committee on Technical Education, 1972-74; (iii) Railway Users Consultative Committee, Southern Railways; Editor, Printer and Publisher of two fortnightlies, namely, (i) YOUTH LIFE (English) and (ii) YUVA VEDI (Hindi); Member, (i) Fifth Lok Sabha 1971—77; and (ii) Committee on Public Undertakings, 1976; presently Member, Library Committee.
