Nirmala Shailani, June 10, 1962; 4 s. and 1 d.; Farmer and Journalist; previously associated with Republican Party of India and Indian National Congress; took pan in political activities and went to jail several times; Founder' President, Ambedkar Shiksha Sansthan, Sikandra Rao, Aligarh: Founder, Scheduled Castes Students' Union and other social, cultural and educational institutions for children and women; Member, Fifth Lok Sabha, 1971-77.
Social activities: Worked for the eradication of Untouchability and other social evils by holding conferences and founding social organisations and for the uplift of the weaker sections of the society. Encouraged co-education, and donated land and money for educational institutions and social welfare.

Special interests: Reading, writing, thinking, tourism, journalism and social work.
Publications: Several articles and stones published in various magazines and newspapers.
Travels abroad: Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand.
